Andrea Tompa (HU)

Andrea Tompa was born in 1971 in Cluj Napoca, Romania. She began her studies in 1990 at ELTE University, Budapest, Faculty of Hungarian and Russian Literature. In 1996 she applied to the Hajónapló workshop at Bárka Theatre Budapest. She published her first writing on theatre in 1999 in Színház (Theatre) magazine. Since then, perhaps there is no Hungarian theater magazine where she hasn’t published. She obtained her PhD degree in 2004 at ELTE University Budapest Faculty of Russian Literature with her dissertation "Theatre and theatricality in Nabokov's works". She worked for the Hungarian Theatre Museum and Institute between 2000-2008. Since 2005 she has been the editor of Színház (Theatre) magazine. Since the autumn of 2008 she has been teaching at the Babes-Bolyai University Cluj Napoca, Romania on the Faculty of Theatre and Television as an adjunct. She attended many international seminars and international festivals, she taught and published abroad, she edited books on theatre and translated Russian plays. In 2002 she became a member of the Hungarian Theatre Critics Association. In 2010 she managed a Critical Writing Workshop at the Vilnius University as an Erasmus guest teacher. Also in this year her first novel The Executioner's House appeared.
